intensity of Cody's love

It is like a blend of Romeo & Juliet and West Side Story but with a better ending.
Grace and Cody started as forbidden friends then evolved into secret lovers. What I loved best about this story was how they felt about each other. They were each others one and only, no matter how long they were apart. The intensity of Cody's love for Grace, got to me. He would do anything for her including putting his life at risk. While Cody was a man of few words, when he talked about his love for Grace, it moved me. When Grace asked him if he was faithful to her his response was, "I love you Grace Elizabeth Callaghan. Nobody else. Nobody else gets me. Nobody else can have me. I'm yours as long as you want me."
I wish a few things were different. It would be a better story if it were longer including that it would give the romance more time to build. Also they could spend more time together. They were apart at least 1/3 of the story, which I did not like. Also the smex scenes were very YA. I will admit to wanting more hotness in my stories than this had. There was the potential for sizzling love making scenes for several reasons including that they gave their v-cards to each other. The author could have made that scene passionate and romantic but it just wasn't. It was mediocre. While the story had a HNF ending I wanted it to have a HEA one.

A Wonderful Story

JM Darhower has a knack for words. She is able to weave stories together that instantly transport me into worlds of greed, crime, desire, heartbreak, love. Snowflakes & Fire Escapes is no different. Told in a combination of past and present tense we follow Grace Callaghan as she grows up with her dad who is distant, hardly ever home, and enforces strict rules about locking doors and windows for safety. Grace follows�the rules except one. Her window to the fire escape stays open because gazing down she can see a group of boys hanging out on the corner. One boy in particular, her best friend Cody, who always looks out for her, despite warnings from her father to stay the hell away. Didn't hear much from Cody and only got to know him from Grace's eyes, but it was enough to feel and understand the depth of love,protective instinct and courage he had for them both. Overall a there�were at times full of confusion, lost, emptiness, and anger but always held an element of hope. It is definitely a book I would recommend �and I loved it!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the story, and I understand that the author writes mafia stories but it just seems like all her stories are turning in to the same version every single time and her characters more one dimensional with every story so I don't know if I feel like reading another one from J.M Darhower.
