Great Commentary on the Gospel of John
By AJ
This second book in Dr. Al Garza's series is equally as compelling as his previously released book on Matthew. It is noted that the Gospel of John is not one of the so-called synoptic gospels, and additional perspectives of the Jewish Yeshua (Jesus) are to be analyzed. Dr. Garza's book on John replicates the same pattern and demonstration of scholarship that was presented in his book on Matthew. Like Matthew, Dr. Garza's book on John will be of especial interest to those Believers in making the transition from the Roman Church-inspired worldview into the Hebrew roots or Hebraic mind-set, that is, entering in Torah and Yahweh's appointed times based on the Hebrew calendar calendar, in contradistinction to the Roman calendar's pagan-originated holidays.
It may well be that the Roman Church and its post-Reformation descendants may be Amalek in "sheep" clothing, with Yahweh's people deceived and trapped therein. One difficulty some Christians face when making the transition into a connection to and alignment with the Hebrew faith is the pressure from family who don't see the need to disconnect from the idolatry of the Roman system, and from the long-held family traditions entrenched in observing certain Roman Church holidays. Breaking with and separating from the family traditions, for example, may be viewed as radical to the point of engendering psychological distresses and being labeled with psychological/psychiatric disorders. One must keep in mind Yeshua's words in Matthew 10:34ff., where he quoted from Micah 7:6, indicating that such changes as transitioning into the Hebrew faith most certainly will bring familial conflict in some instances. Moreover, after receiving an intellectual understanding of the Hebraic principles, yet later rejecting them and turning back into the Roman system, is replete with difficulties as suggested in 2 Peter 2:21.
A very few of the representative insightful and poignant commentaries given to the reader from chapter verses in John follow: explanation of the Word of Yahweh in 1:1-3; an exceptional analysis of "klipa" 1:10-11; Yeshua and Nicodemus in 3:10; Jews and Cuthites/Samaritans in 4:8-9, 12, 20, 22 and cf. 8:48; woman taken adultery in 8:3-7; hireling not a true shepherd in 10:12-13; Lazarus' grave (cave) in 11:38-39; another Comforter in 14:16, 26 and cf. 15:26 along with 16:13; crown of thorns in 19:2; blood and water came out in 19:34; receive ye the Holy Ghost in 20:22; even the world could not contain the books in 21:25.
It may well be that Dr. Garza's work is particularly and relevant for the remnant that Ramban termed the "exceptional ones," during the prophetic period of the final restoration and ingathering of Yahweh's people, along with a population of strangers as in Isaiah 56:6-7. The reader is urged in the strongest possible terms to listen and take heed to the wooing, as it were, of the Holy Spirit and internalize the exceptional work of Dr. Garza.

Amazing Commentary!
By B.Shlomo
After reading and studying the Matthew Rabbinic Source Commentary, this is by far another great work by Sefer Press and Dr.Garza. The vast majority of the Rabbinic and ancient Jewish sources found in this book are not available to read and study unless you know Hebrew or Aramaic. This book of John will challenge any believer in Yeshua/Jesus who holds onto Western theology and tradition not found in the 1st century. If you want to read how Rabbinic and Jewish literature connect with the 1st century Jewish believers then this book is for you. You get quotes from the Talmud, Midrash, Mishnah, the Targumim and many other Rabbinic quotes down through the ages. This will be a go to book for Jewish references and sources regarding the book of John.
As if that is not enough, you will get to study the book of John from the KJV English, Greek (MT) and in Hebrew. This is a great tool to study both the languages and the Jewish sources that influenced the Jewish writer John. Whether you except it or not, John was a Jewish following of Yeshua and knew his Hebrew Bible and the Rabbinic teachings behind it. A must have for any student of the Bible, both Jew and Gentile alike.
B.Shlomo, student of the Hebrew bible and the Brit Hadasha.

Great resource for the serious student of the Bible
By nacomi
This seems to be a great resource for the serious student of the Bible. It provides early Jewish thought on concepts presented through out the Gospel of John. It is sometimes easy to forget that Jesus was a Jew, his disciples were jews and much of scripture is written from a Jewish perspective. This text helps one understand the historical and cultural context of John.
