Past Due is a good old-fashioned cops and robbers story with everything you need ...

Past Due is a good old-fashioned cops and robbers story with everything you need in a great story -good guys, bad guys, explosions, beautiful women, murder, mystery, jewels, secrets, romance and of course, the hero. Past Due is story that starts back in the 1930s with the bad guys wandering into the sleepy little town of Bangor, Maine. The story continues to unravel over the decades into modern times, with the secret and all the mystery that continues to surround it.
The author, Dick Stockford tells the story from the unique perspective of a police detective trying to solve a decades old mystery. The author, Dick Stockford, in fact, rose through the Bangor police department ranks from detective to Chief of Police and is able to tell this story, much of which is based on local historical fact, in a way that captivates his audience throughout the entire story. Well done and I highly recommend this excellent book for anyone looking to read a good old fashioned cops and robbers thriller.

A great mystery book

Past Due is a fantastic mystery book, especially if, like me, you enjoy the inner workings of the police force. The efforts of Thomas Clipper and his detectives in solving the murders taking place in Bangor are described in remarkable detail, and yet they are engaging, and keep the reader on his toes. The characters in this book are colorful and interesting, including a few endearing side characters which make this book really stand out, such as a hidden poet cop, or an obsessive failing FBI agent. Thomas Clipper himself is one of my favorite characters.
A great mystery book. If you like writers like Ed McBain or Donald Harstad, don't pass this book up.

Past Due has something for everyone! A 1937 jewel heist. a modern day mystery, and a memorable character in Detective Lieutenant Thomas Clipper. The historical context and intriguing story line will leave you wanting more.
